1. World one tower , Mumbai


World One is a residential skyscraper in Mumbai, India. It is located in Lower Parel, South Mumbai on the 7.1-hectare site . The site also houses two other lower towers.The construction of the project was started in 2011.At a sky-piercing 117 floors, and over 440 meter in height, World One in Mumbai will be the world’s tallest purely residential building. $290 million has been invested in the skyscraper so far and currently this project is on hold.



2.Char Dham Expressway


Char Dham Expressway National Highway is a proposed two-lane (each direction) National Highway with a minimum width of 10 metres in the state of Uttarakhand. The proposed highway will compliment the under development Char Dham Railway by connecting the four holy places in states includes Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri The project includes 900 km national highways will connect whole of Uttarakhand state.The total cost of this project was INR Rs.12000 crores and the project was laid by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi .The highway will be called Char Dham Mahamarg.



3.GIFT ( Gujarat International Finance Tec-City )


The Indian government is dedicated to promote India as a financial power in a number of industries. Finance is one of these in the list of upcoming mega projects in India. To grow India’s financial industry, with a view to becoming asian and global hub, the GIFT mega project was conceived.
At a total cost of $20 billion, the city will cover a construction area of 8.5 million square metres. 200 skyscrapers, some upwards of 80 meter tall, will dot the area, revaling other financial districts in scope.



4. International North-South Transport Corridor


The International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is the ship, rail, and road route for moving freight between India, Russia, Iran, Europe and Central Asia.The current INSTC project was initiated by Russia, India and Iran in September 2000 in St. Petersburg. The modern day INSTC is a multi-modal transportation route linking Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea via Iran, and then onward to northern Europe via St. Petersburg in Russia.The route primarily involves moving freight from India, Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia via ship, rail and road. The objective of the corridor is to increase trade connectivity between major cities such as Mumbai, Moscow, Tehran, Baku, Bandar Abbas, Astrakhan, Bandar Anzali and etc.



5.Freight-only railway tracks


India is all set to get its first publicly owned freight corridors which is another upcoming mega project in India. According to the Make-in-India report of 2017, 3 million tonnes of freight is transported through rail tracks everyday. Moving freight by rail is more cheaper and Eco-friendly than road transport.

Indian railways is building two world-class freight corridors which is Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. It will be freight-only railway lines to move goods between industrial heartlands in the North India and ports of Eastern and Western coasts.


In this project Freight only line is building in 4 major transportation route which is known as Golden Quadrilateral i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Howrah and its two diagonals (Delhi – Chennai and Mumbai – Howrah). Covering a total of 10,122 km, these corridors carry the heaviest traffic and are highly congested. The route carries 52 per cent of passenger traffic and 58 per cent of freight traffic according to government of India.



6. Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Shivaji Memorial


The Shiv Smarak or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial is a monument under construction dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the 17th century Indian warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire. The statue will be located in Arabian Sea, near the coast of Mumbai facing Mumbai’s Girgaum Chowpatty beach, 1.5 km away on a manmade island of rocks. The statue will be 126 meters in height, placed on top of a 84 m pedestal, making the total height of the monument 212 m.



The project area is planned to be spread over 130,000 square meter. It is expected to be completed in 2021. The total cost of the project is estimated to be approx 25000 crores.

Project will include visitor center buildings, a memorial garden, a library, food court, and convention center with room for approximately 10,000 people, a museum, exhibition gallery, amphitheater, helipad, and hospital. The memorial will showcase replicas of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s forts.

7. Setu Bharatam Project


The Prime Minister Modi launched the Sethu Bharatam Yojana in New Delhi for the construction of bridges on national highways for safe and smooth travel.

In this upcoming mega projects in India 208 Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and Railway Under Bridge (RUB) will be constructed at a cost of Rs 20,800 crore in these states (Andhra Pradesh – 33, Assam – 12, Bihar – 20, Chhattisgarh – 5, Gujarat – 8, Haryana – 10, Himachal Pradesh – 5, Jharkhand – 11, Karnataka – 17, Kerala – 4 , Madhya Pradesh-6, Maharashtra – 12, Odisha – 4, Punjab – 10, Rajasthan – 9, Tamil Nadu – 9, Uttarakhand – 2, Uttar Pradesh – 9, West Bengal – 22)Detailed project report for 73 ROBs has already been received. Out of these, 64 ROBs are to be approved at an estimated cost of Rs 5600 crore by this financial year 2015-16. Apart from this, about 1500 old and crumbling hall bridges will be improved by replacing / widening / strengthening them in a phased manner at a cost of about 30 thousand crores. The Ministry has invited bids to appoint a consultancy to prepare a detailed project report by March 2016.



8. Bharatmala Project


Bharatmala Project is a national highway developement project in which govt is focussing on optimizing efficiency of freight and passenger movement across the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through effective interventions like development of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes, National Corridor Efficiency Improvement, Border and International connectivity roads, Coastal and Port connectivity roads and Green-field expressways.



The announcement of the scheme was done by Shri Nitin Gadkari, in the presence of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It is one of the major upcoming mega projects in India.

Under this project, the construction of roads, in all parts of the nation will be undertaken by the government and 34, 800 km of new road will be constructed.

9.Sagarmala Project


The Sagarmala Programme is an initiative by the government to enhance the performance of the country’s logistics sector. The Sagarmala is a series of projects to develop the country’s coastline and inland waterways to drive industrial development. Sagarmala , integrated with the development of inland waterways, is expected to reduce cost and time for transporting goods, benefiting industries and export/import trade.

The project is focused on four broad areas i.e.

1. To Modernize port infrastructure, add up to six new ports and enhance capacity.

2. Improve port connectivity through rail corridors, freight-friendly expressways and inland waterways.

3. Create 14 coastal economic zones or CEZs and a special economic zone at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai with manufacturing clusters to enable port-led industrialization.

4. Develop skills of fishermen and other coastal and island communities.



10.Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train


The ambitious high-speed rail project is being developed at a cost of Rs 1.08 lakh crore. It is another upcoming mega project in India in which high-speed rail will cover the distance of approx 509 kms between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just 3 hours.

The design for the bridges, viaducts and tunnels was made by engineers based in Delhi, Mumbai and Japan.The corridor is 508.09 km long and passes the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The alignment comprises 460.3 km of viaducts (90.6% of route length), 25.87 km of tunnels (5.1%), 12.9 km of cut and fill (2.5%) and 9.22 km of bridges (1.8%).A 21 km tunnel connects Thane and Virar, of which 7 km will be undersea. The corridor will begin at the underground station in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, and then traverse 21 km underground before emerging above ground at Thane’.

Indian Railways proposes to operate two types of services on the corridor. A “Rapid Train” service with only two stops at Surat and Vadodara, and a slower service that halts at all stations. The “Rapid Train” would complete the journey in 2 hours and 7 minutes, while the slower service would take 2 hours and 58 minutes. In total, 70 daily services will be operated on the line, or 35 services in each direction with 3 services per hour during peak hours and 2 services per hour during off-peak hours.
